Bookwall

1998- present 15 x 2 x 3 feet

I built a wall of books to delineate the corner of my property of 12 acres at the intersection of my neighbors two stonewalls. These stones were trash from a farmer’s fields 200 years ago and were used to define his land and kept the cows from wandering. The wall of books was created from library discards, castaways of knowledge. The Bookwall invites wildlife usage. It is a crossroad for bobcats, bears, wild turkeys, raccoons, skunks, the occasional biped and winter snowmobile. The wall is now twenty-three years old with the most recent addition created in March 2020.
